WHAT IS DURANGO AGILITY DOGS?
Durango Agility Dogs is a volunteer-based, member-driven club of dog agility enthusiasts in southwest Colorado that provides opportunities to learn, practice, and compete in a skilled, safe and supportive environment. Our emphasis is on agility as a way to improve the bond between handler and dog using positive reinforcement. MORE
DAD offers classes over a range of abilities. We often have beginning agility classes starting the end of April for people who have never done agility before. Please click through to read the requirements for these classes and information on signing up. MORE
Practice and Fun Runs
DAD members who have taken the beginning class are welcome to use the field (except during class time - check the calendar for busy times). We will be having at least one Fun Run for beginners again this summer. There will be a Fourth of July Fun Run and picnic for the club which will be held in memory of Kathy Nickell. MORE
Trials and Seminars
We will be putting on our AKC trial (cosponsored by Durango Kennel Club) in Dolores August 2-4, 2013. Our NADAC trial will happen in Bayfield over the Labor Day weekend, August 30 - September 2. We don’t have any seminars arranged yet and will post information when that changes. Camp Canine often offers seminars, see contact info on the Training Information page. Vision Agility will be doing a NADAC trial once a month all summer long over in Cortez. MORE
Other Agility Opportunities
Pam at Camp Canine is putting together her class schedule for the summer and is a good resource for people who have done beginner classes. We are excited that Sunny Williams has moved Vision Agility to Cortez and will offer numerous training opportunities there. Juliet at Durango Dogs is teaching a number of obedience classes for people interested in going on to agility.
Durango Agility Dogs was started in 2002 in order to provide the local agility enthusiasts with a place to train and to provide local trials. We hosted our first local NADAC trial in the fall of 2004 and our first AKC trial (hosted with the Durango Kennel Club) in 2010. And we’ve taught hundreds of different agility classes, introducing many people to the sport. MORE
